ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The OCCF Youth Council learns about philanthropy first-hand by volunteering their time and talent,
making grants, and teaching philanthropy to fourth graders in all three county school systems.
After an intensive training session each Fall, members of the Youth Council--8th to 12th graders
themselves--jump headlong into fund-raising and philanthropic activities.
Recent activities for the group included assisting with the Orange County Players Cabaret
fund-raiser, the annual holiday market, Christmas bell-rining, and more.
GOLDEN DEEDS
Each year the Youth Council members host a banquet to honor local volunteers with "Golden
Deeds" awards. For information on this year's program, click here.

Membership in the Youth Council is open to students of Orleans, Paoli and Springs Valley schools,
grades 8 through 12. Potential members must apply and be approved for membership by current
members.
The Youth Council has its own Board of Directors, its own officers, and members conduct their
own meetings. Mentors from throughout the county are on hand for guidance and advice.
The group holds at least one grant cycle each year, providing funding for charitable organizations
and agencies throughout Orange County. Through funds raised by Youth Council members
themselves, the group holds both an unrestricted endowment and a pass-thru fund with the
Foundation.
For an application for membership in the OCCF Youth Council, contact Cyndi Goerres, Program
Manager, at 812-723-4150.
