Collaborations
Working together...

Any area benefits from the many functions of non-profit organizations, but in a rural,
economically-depressed area such as Orange County, the work of tireless and dedicated limited
resources that prevent them from making a noticeable impact; but with hands joined and
resources pooled, much more can be accomplished.,

OCCF has worked with a number of groups to raise funding for endowments and provide
projects and programming benefitting the people of Orange County.

Compassion 4 Kids, an Indianapolis-based charity
that provides for needy children, worked with us
in providing hygiene kits to children in the county's
school system, and supplied each third grader in
the county with a dictionary.

Orange County Players hosts an annual Broadway
Cabaret, featuring a delicious meal with each
performance. Proceeds benefit the OCP
endowment fund and the OCCF Youth Council endowment.

"Good neighbor" Larry Hollan opened the door to his
beautifully-restored 19th century home during the holidays,
asking attendees to leave a "present" under the tree for
a number of OCCF funds.

As part of its sesquicentennial celebration, French Lick
hosted a "Queen's Ball", and raised funds for both the
Springs Valley Education Foundation endowment and
the Melton Public Library endowment.

Bloomington Hospital of Orange County's Foundation each year joins OCCF in hosting a Ladies'
Luncheon, featuring a fashion show, prizes and free goodies
for everyone attending. Proceeds from the event are divided
equally between BHOC Foundation and OCCF.

Filling the need for a grocery cooperative that provides health
and locally-produced food items, the Lost River Co-Op arm
of the Orange Development Corporation/Home Grown
gathered its volunteers and began the venture to open such
a store. The OCCF has been proud to house the Co-op office
within our non-profit resource center, and celebrated with
them when their store opened in November of 2007.

Habitat for Humanity has long been a resident of the OCCF resource center, and works with the
OCCF staff in a number of different capacities.

Together with the three county school corporations, OCCF
participated in "Food for Thought", a program whereby
students taking ISTEP tests were given healthy snacks
during test breaks and #2 pencils for taking the tests. The
program, deemed highly successful by all three school
systems, eased the tension of test time and satisfied
students whose regular meal times were interrupted by
test schedules. The program will be continued in future
years.
