Funding for the OCCF Unrestricted grant cycles is obtained from the investment
income earned on invested endowments. The principal is never touched, but remains
and is built upon each year to ensure future funding. Unrestricted funds are made
possible by the generosity of individuals, businesses, and private foundations through
contributions to the OCCF General Endowment Fund. Unrestricted funds allow the
Foundation to address emerging needs within the community, and are used for
charitable purposes as determined by selection committees and the Foundation Board of
Directors. Selected recipients fall into the following categories:  Arts and Culture, Civic
and Historical, Education, Recreation, Health and Human Services, Community
Development, and Youth. The population served includes all of Orange County.

Orange County organizations and agencies who are tax-exempt according to section
501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code are eligible for apply for unrestricted
grants, but for-profit entities interested in funding charitable activities may qualify, as
well. Again, population serviced must remain within Orange County.
